I started Callahan Electric LLC in 2011, after working for a large electrical contractor for ten years. Throughout these ten years I worked with several of Portland’s largest home builders in new construction wiring that included: Arbor Custom Homes, Legend Homes, Pulte Homes, DR Horton and JT Smith just to name a few. I also worked with numerous smaller builders in both new construction and remodel work. Additionally, I worked with several small general contractors in commercial new construction and remodels. In virtually all of my work, I was the lead electrician making the decisions and carrying the responsibility for completing the electrical in a timely and correct manner. With this portfolio of experience I decided that it was time to open up my own shop.
My professional work life did not start out in the traditional way of leaving high school to enter trade school. It started in Minneapolis, MN where I graduated high school to go on to five years at the University of MN where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics. Soon after graduating, I started working full time at American Express Financial as a paraplanner. My main duties were involved in financial planning analytics. In 1997 a job transfer brought me to Portland where I continued on with American Express. In the year 2000 (right before the dot com bust) I decided to give up my fun, but very stressful job, to enter into the electrical apprenticeship program. The majority of my electrical career was spent working for a large full service electrical shop.
I have been married to my wonderful wife Kristen for over seven years. We have two beautiful children, Henry who is six and Kiera who is four. I am currently managing my son’s T-ball team , the Purple Dragons. Once T-ball is done our family will be enjoying the summer with camping and hiking the many trails that Oregon has to offer.
I encourage you to give me and my team a try. I am a person of high integrity and honesty. I listen to exactly how customers want their project done and then follow through by paying attention to the details. Professionalism and punctuality are very important to me. And finally, I currently have a low overhead shop so you may find that I am less expensive than some of the shops out there.
